Acne Facials

Proper Daily Habits + Acne Facials = Faster Results

Acne facials help our clients get better results in less time. However, relying on acne facials by themselves is ineffective for clearing acne.

Acne is a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week problem that cannot be solved with facials alone. You need an effective daily skincare routine as the foundation.

That’s why we teach our clients to follow daily skincare habits as part of our Clear Skin Rules.

In fact, our Clear Skin Rules are so important, The Acne Lab won’t schedule a facial until a client has implemented these rules on a daily basis for a minimum of 2 weeks.

After that time, we recommend scheduling a facial every 3-4 weeks on top of proper daily habits for faster results. Why? Because it prevents build up, helps your skin recover and heal, and helps you stay on top of any adaptation to products.

Acne Facials are Specially Designed for Acne-Prone Teens and Adults

Many service providers focus on “strong” facial treatments like peels, or they use products that don’t follow our Clear Skin Rules and can make acne worse. Acne facials need to focus on the health of the skin and not how strong the “treatment” is.

Our facials enhance how your skin responds to your daily routine and helps prevent your skin from adapting to your products.

We focus our extractions exclusively on non-inflamed acne (blackheads) and educate clients on minimizing any home-based extractions, which often do more harm than good.

At The Acne Lab, our facials are customized to respond to what the skin needs at the time of the appointment.

  • If Skin is Dry: We focus on hydration and review/correct the home skincare routine to be effective without dryness.

  • If Skin is Hydrated: We focus on gentle and progressive exfoliation with enzymes or light peels, extract non-inflamed acne, reduce inflammation with soothing strategies, and review/update home skincare to continue to be effective.

What to Expect at an Acne Facial at The Acne Lab

All appointments begin with a check-in to review your daily skincare routine, habits, and successes/frustrations. We then can make recommendations to make sure your daily routine will be effective in the weeks ahead.

The facial also includes:

  • Cleansing and toning the skin
  • Photos of your skin to track your progress
  • Assessment of whether you need exfoliation or hydration. This determines the type of protocol/products we will use.
  • Extractions of any non-inflamed acne (blackheads)
  • Use of products or devices to reduce inflammation (light panels, cooling rollers, high frequency, etc.)
  • Hydrating and protecting with SPF
  • Review of post-care info and outlining your home skincare routine until our next appointment.
