Frequently asked questions
How does identifying gut issues help me get rid of my acne?
Gut and digestive problems can spark inflammation throughout the body, fueling acne. They can also throw off hormone balance and block your skin from absorbing the nutrients it needs to stay healthy.
If this tests identifies any issues, then we recommend you work with one of the functional medicine practitioners at our partner, Elovated Medicine, or another functional medicine provider.
How does identifying food sensitivities help me get clear skin?
If you have a food sensitivity, your immune system reacts to specific proteins in certain foods—like gluten, dairy, or eggs—triggering inflammation. This low-grade immune response can show up in many ways, including acne.
Reducing or eliminating the triggering foods often helps calm inflammation and improve skin health.
But in some cases, it may be helpful to work with one of the functional medicine practitioners at our partner, Elovated Medicine, or another functional medicine provider.
Why is a stool test needed to determine digestive health?
A stool test offers a direct look at your gut’s ecosystem—revealing what blood tests and symptoms can’t.
Our particular test uses quantitative PCR testing to accurately measure the amount of microbial DNA in a stool sample, providing a more precise and clinically relevant assessment of gut health than other methods. Not only does the test assess a broad range of microorganisms in the gut, including bacteria, parasites, fungi, and viruses, it also measures markers for intestinal permeability, or "leaky gut," digestive function, inflammation, and immune activity.
